Jackie Cunliffe: Travels with a Paintbrush
Jackie Cunliffe specialises in watercolours depicting exotic locations: the everyday lives and the surroundings of Thailand, Laos and Cambodia, Morocco, Spain and locations across the world. The vivid colours that come through in the clothes, the food and the architecture of the Far East contrast with the deep shadows that the strong sun casts in every nook and cranny.
From Nottingham to Worcester, Italy to Switzerland, Jackie Cunliffe’s art has brought the evocative spirit of South-East Asia to many homes. In the Spring of 2008 her work was shown at Evesham Library, Worcestershire in an exhibition entitled “People and Places: South-East Asia”.
Jackie exhibited recent work at Evesham Arts Centre from May to July 2017. Discovering that painting the people & sights of South East Asia needed a much deeper & more vibrant palette than her previous work on English & northern European landscapes, Jackie explored different colours & papers for watercolour to capturing their atmosphere. Coming full circle, she’s now applying the new techniques to local subjects.
